Diversity & Inclusion

Since its inception, the Sugar Creek Fair and Festival Board has been committed to celebrating Slavic culture and arts.

We achieve this through relevant and impactful performances and educational programs that increase knowledge, awareness, and appreciation not only for Slavic culture, but for culturally diverse arts as a whole. The Festival seeks to create an environment in which diverse people can celebrate, thrive and succeed, feel they are valued, and know their presence is wanted. We encourage all attendees, participants at our events, and vendors to work to understand each other and move beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity.

We are dedicated to inclusion in our Slavic performance groups, audiences, and organizational membership, welcoming those of every race, color, ethnicity, ancestry, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability status, citizenship status, veteran status, religion, and socio-economic background.

We are committed to providing equal access to the arts and creating affordable programs that are welcoming and supportive to all families and eliminating any other barriers that prevent access to programs and services.

We strive to diversify the cultural arts calendar in Jackson County, promote the uniqueness of others, and build bridges of positive experiences between all people.

We value the diverse viewpoints and perspectives within our organization and promote bias-free decision making in all areas of organizational management. We also strive to diversify our infrastructure by continually expanding board membership and volunteer opportunities.

The Festival has a zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination and bullying. We will not tolerate racism, hate speech, discrimination, bullying, exclusion, disrespect, prejudice, harassment, or abuse of any kind. As such, the Festival reserves the right to take appropriate actions including, but not limited to, removing any person who engages in these behaviors from the Festival.
